Lair

Lair, 2013, cavity blocks, wool blanket, tupperware lid, gelatine, fabric softener.

My work explores the nature of our relationship with everyday objects, particularly those from the domestic environment. As our memories of the domestic tend to become jumbled up with the objects that belong to it, we create our own subjective meanings and associations. These objects then become rich and dense in cultural and sociological baggage. By combining materials I have made myself with found objects, I try to build my own architecture of memory. Object becomes subject, capable of undergoing processes of transformation - a metaphor for our own potentiality.
